I feel my work got better as the year went on. i can see this because looking at my first drawing and my last drawing, i can tell i have improved a tiny bit. the water theme project that we were assigned to draw the first day, i drew again with a different perspective and i liked it alot better.i understood how to make the theme water look like an actual piece of art, there is not random objects in the final drawing than in the first one. you can visually see that my techniques have developed because of practice and drawing everyday. i feel i have improved as an artist which is great. i truly did use my own ideas for all of my projects. some of my projects i did get inspiration from others work but i did make it my own every single time. i used many sources for inspiration. i either looked up the project idea on pinterest, or i used my complete own ideas from my imagination to help make my art. i had to use alot of creativity after i got inspiration. i also used some of mrs purtees ideas when i was brainstorming, she helped me get the ball rolling for a couple projects. i then had to put my own twist on those ideas which made my art my own. I TAKE RISKS: I took a risk in the project that we had to make our own project, i made a plaster hand and i didn't really want to. but i i did it anyways and it turned out not so great. but i did take a risk and it was kind of fun making the hand. this was also a material i would never have chosen to use for a project if mrs purtee had not brought it up. i have never used plaster strips before in my life so it was weird using it for the first time. i would have normally used markers and colored pencils and have made something completely different. so in the end it was a good thing that a branched out of my comfort zone.
REFLECT: some times i had to take a step back and look at my work, sometimes i had too start over because i did not like what i made. but if i did like it i would start to think what could i add to make it look better or what changes i could make to what i have already made. this made it so i 100% liked what i made on a project. i always had a plan before i started to work, and if i did'nt do that i would probably have made a lot worse looking art. i tried to make sure my ideas would work before i started to art. sometimes i didn't make things the way i planned them out to be but i still liked them in the end. I feel my art work should be rated at is a 3 for reflection. i am able to see my strengths and weaknesses in all of my work. i know my limits but i also know what i am capable of. i tried to make sure i never bit off more than i could chew with all of my projects. but i also tried to challenge myself as much as i could. For doing risks i would also rate myself at a 3 because i feel that i chose projects that sometimes i would not know what it would turn out like. sometimes i did not like the outcome but i was still glad i attempted that piece of work. for example the fish drawing i did. i tried to draw a bass fish that would work for the song lyrics i chose for the project where we chose text and made it into art. i did not like the way the fish turned out but im glad i tried to make a realistic looking piece of art. i feel i grew from that experience. i enjoyed the project where we could choose what we wanted to make. i created a painting where i placed tape on the paper and made a diamond shape and painted around the tape. that was a fun project and i feel it was my best looking piece of artwork. this was by far the best project we had and i enjoyed it the most out of all the projects. i did not like the project where we had to make a scratch tablet thing out of clay. it was hard and my final product look

i got my idea for this project by looking around at other peoples artwork made in this class. it inspired me to make these three pieces and i think they are really cool. other people inspire me alot. also i made a list of other ideas i had and decided on painting, i also used pinterest to help me think of stuff.
inspiration struck from seeing peoples work online and kids in our classes work and i made my own variation of their work and made it my own. i did an artist steal pretty much. mrs purtee also told me to look at abstract art on the computer and i got some ideas from there as well. i wish mrs purtee would have given us a topic to art about. it would have made it alot easier to make art. but the freedom part gave me a challenge because i normally get my project topic from others, this was different but it made me think a little more which is good. in the future i would prefer to have a topic given to me. but in the end i liked what i made.

the media i used was all colored pencils and printed pictures. i colored with the colored pencils and then i made a collage with the pictures. for my fish drawing i just drew the fish with pencil then i colored with with the colored pencils. my thinking about working with limitations is a lot harder to make art then i thought at first. but as we kept working with a limitation it became easier to work with. working without A limitation is much easier than with one. it was more of a challenge to work with a limitation
my limitation was we took turns painting a part of a picture to make one final image. the image turned out different than what i thought but in the end it still looked decent. we selected it because we thought it would be fun because we are pals. i learned that observing people can be risky, yet interesting. people react to the same situation differently, some kicked and threw it and some opened it and some threw it away. their reactions reflects how they are as a person. if they would rather figure something out or just destroy and vandalize something.
i used my ideas from getting an idea from the pbs girl. she did a book with cash and my twist was an iphone. in my opinion mine was better because most people would rather have an iphone than a book. i am a more creative kid. My painting skills is not the greatest but i feel i did my best work on it. It was very hard to do but i finished a decent painting. painting is hard to stay inside the lines i drew. My successes were making it look like my mom and dad in a way. they will be very proud that i did this. ANd they mean something to me, so it was a success creating this. Art 1 blog:
My art skills have improved quite a bit since I joined art 1. I could only draw stick figures before I came to this class. Then I learned how to draw a hallway. At first I did not know how to make it look 3-D, but my teacher taught me how to use lines and a center point to make the hallway have an extending effect. My thinking about original art has completely changed. I now realize no ideas are original now, they are all piggy backed off of another idea. It kind of stinks now that I know none of my ideas are original. But it makes sense to me that someone else has had that idea before me. My challenges in art have been my poor artistic ability. I am not that good of a drawer to begin with, but now I am being graded on it. My successes have been the outcome because they turn out a lot better than expected. I’m proud of my first two drawings because they are the first I have ever done good at. |
